Wine of the Day: Trinchero “Mario’s” Cabernet Sauvignon

Honoring the patriarch of the seventy-plus-year-old Napa Valley winery, Trinchero Mario’s Cabernet Sauvignon ($60) celebrates the epitome of what Mario Trinchero hoped to accomplish when he ventured from New York to Napa Valley, establishing his winery in St. Helena in 1948. Through the next seventy years, Trinchero has grown to be one of Napa’s leading growers, managing over acres of estate fruit in St. Helena, Mount Veeder, Rutherford, and Atlas Peak focusing on producing premium wines from Bordeaux varieties.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon shines in this Heritage Collection wine, blending fruit from two of their estates in St. Helena to create a harmonious, balanced, fruit-forward wine with personality.  Juicy and fresh, the wine opens with raspberry and red cherry notes, leading to crushed dried rose petals, toasted cedar, dark chocolate, and spice. Lengthy, and rich, without being overpowering, the wine is an easy one to enjoy, raising a glass to the history-makers of Napa.
