Last year Matt and Iris McCallister created the organization Chefs for Farmers, a group of cooks, farmers, waiters, cheese-makers, organizers, ranchers, dishwashers, and volunteers who share a common philosophy about how we eat in a larger sense, about life with a goal to raise awareness for the importance of using local ingredients and supporting the farms and in and around Dallas-Fort Worth.
Gary and I are so excited to be a part of the Chefs for Farmers dinner this Sunday. We are judges, along with Gene Street and June Naylor, for the event deciding which Dallas chef has updated a classic comfort food the best, as we walk the line with our tray at Highland Park Cafeteria. Some of the chef’s who will be behind the counter serving up their dishes include Brian Luscher of The Grape, Janice Provost and Chad Houser from Parigi, Tim Byers from Smoke, John Tesar from Cedars Social, and of course the co-founder of Chefs for Farmers, Matt McCallister with cocktails from two of my favorites – Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka and incredible wine from Hall Vineyards. The night benefits The Family Place. Can’t Wait!
