Executives in Action was born out of the need to help people, as many nonprofits are. This one is slightly different though, as it is designed to help people in need, who then go on to help other people in need. (Rather genius, don’t you think.)
Founders Ashlee and Chris Kleinert collaborated with the Entrepreneurs for North Texas (EFNT) and the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) in late 2008, launching EIA as a pro bono consulting firm to assist nonprofits in January 2009. Initially, they started by working with executives that were laid off due to downsizing or for other issues during our recent recession. They would then pair those individuals with non-profit groups who needed help taking their organizations to the next level. With skills, like marketing, budgeting, IT, operations, etc. the executives could make a significant impact on the non-profit, elevating their work. This would have been financially impossible to do with the expertise the executive could bring to the table if it wasn’t for EIA.
Now, while still working with some of those individuals, but as our economy has improved they are finding executives who may have retired from one business yet still want to give back, or executives from one field who want to help with another, keeping their pool of resources high. They have helped over 270 non-profits and worked with over 700 executives. I am proud to be a member of their Executive Leadership Board.
September 19 they are hosting their 2nd annual Great Texas Food Truck Rally, this year on the lawn at Reunion Tower. The afternoon event, filled with some of the best food trucks in the city (including our favorite Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe with all those tasty grilled cheese sandwiches,) libations from Nodding Donkey and Budweiser, and a slew of live music from some of our favorite bands in the area. Last year’s event proved to be a huge success, with the turnout of 10,000 people. With the new venue, more food trucks and entertainment, we are sure this year will be a fantastic celebration. So mark your calendars now as this is one event you don’t want to miss. (Tickets will be available via their website shortly.)
And, if you want to help, there are some great sponsorship opportunities to participate. Shoot me a note, or leave a comment, and I will put you in touch with the EIA team. We would love to have you on board for this awesome celebration!
