Wine of the Day: Benovia “Courageous Care” Pinot Noir

In these unprecedented times, there are so many wineries stepping up to help those in need. Jumping into action Sonoma’s Benovia Winery honors those who are putting their lives on the line with Benovia’s “Courageous Care” Pinot Noir ($40).

Created in the memory of co-founder, Joe Anderson’s, great-grandmother, Margaret Foley, who was a midwife during the diphtheria epidemic in the late 1800s. Putting her life on the line, she worked to help families in need battling the epidemic. When the COVID pandemic struck the country, Benovia dedicated this wine in the memory of Joe’s great-grandma, honoring the first-responders and frontline heroes of today. A percentage of every bottle (available here) will be donated to Feeding America, providing food for those in need, and Direct Relief, helping provide PPE to medical workers.

Like all of the premium wines of Benovia, this Pinot Noir does not disappoint. Produced from two of Benovia’s sustainably-farmed, Russian River estates, delivering juicy pomegranate, cranberry, ripe cherry, and cola, with just the slightest hint of toasted cedar, pepper, and black tea. Balanced and fresh, with bright acidity melding with well-integrated tannins. A wonderful wine to help support the people doing so much to help so many. #Cheers
