Vibrant and fresh, creamy and rich, the Soliloquy Sauvignon Blanc ($50) from Floral Springs is consistently one of my favorite white wines, making it an ideal #wineoftheday as we look towards the start of spring. Crafted from the proprietary Soliloquy clone of the variety grown in the estate Crossroads Vineyard within the Oakville AVA, a clone that was almost extinct before being saved by the Flora Springs family. They knew it had the potential to create one of the finest white wines in Napa Valley and spent eight years working to preserve the clone and make it prosperous.
Lucky for us, as their hard work has resulted in a structured, complex, layered wine with incredible character and personality. Nicely textured, with a creamy core thanks to adding a touch of Chardonnay and Malvasia, with tropical fruit flavors of lychee, mango, lilikoi, spicy ginger, and lemon-lime. Juicy and inviting, with a mineral core and bright acidity, making it ideal with anything from oven-roasted chicken to spicy Thai and green curry to roasted corn and crab soup with coconut. #Cheers
