Bastille Day Rosé

Happy Bastille Day, the day that marks the beginning of the French Revolution and the emergence of a new French Republic. And what better way to mark the occasion than with a bottle of refreshing French Rosé. Cheers to freedom and the French!

Enfant Terrible Cotes du Rhone Rosé from Maison Sinnae captures the rebel spirit of the revolutionists. From vineyards lying on the right bank of the Rhone that were first planted by the Romans over two thousand years ago, a collective of 200 winegrowers grows classic Rhone varieties with care and respect for the earth. The wine blends Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, creating luscious wild strawberry, raspberry, and tangerine layers. It is clean, crisp, and balanced with a line of fresh acidity that lingers from the beginning through the finish.

From the Southern Rhone region of Costières-de-Nîmes, Domaine Gassier is crafting expressive wines from organic grapes grown in the bush vines. Domaine Gassier Rosé of Grenache is juicy and fruity, with layers of red cherry, berry, and red current.  Heavily influenced by the Mediterranean, the sun-shine-filled vineyards enjoy constant sea breezes giving a hint of brininess to the lively wine, which marries with a mineral-rich character thanks to the fossil-filled soils of the region. Pair with sushi, shellfish, or spicy Thai cuisine.

From Famille BERNARD, led by winemaker Oliver Bernard, Bordeaux’s Domaine de Chevalier crafts it’s punchy, zesty, lush, and delicious Rosé de Chevalier. With a pale salmon color, the wine opens with bright citrus and floral notes, which lead to a palate of cherry, wild berry, mandarin, crushed rose petals, and ripe pomelo. With freshness, structure, and refinement, the wine is a perfect accompaniment to summer dishes like grilled chicken and vegetables, fresh seafood, or chilled soups.

When we think of Rosé wines from France, our minds may immediately go to the delicate, refreshing, beautifully balanced options with a whisper of pink color from Provence. And when we consider the Rosé wine of Provence, Les Sarrins delivers the textbook style with beauty, elegance, and freshness. The Grenache dominant blend opens with ripe stone fruit, like golden peaches and apricots, leading to fresh berries, violets, and woody herbs. Crisp and refined, with crushed stone minerality lingering throughout the classic Provence wine.
