Madame Pommery was a determined, dedicated visionary who took over her family’s Champagne House, Pommery & Greno when her husband died. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to finding the best terroir to produce premium wines, believing the wine is made in the vineyard, not the winery.
In 1874 she is noted for being the first to produce a dry, Brut-style Champagne, veering away from the sweet sparklers that were popular at the time. Madame Pommery deserves much of our appreciation for this as the essence of place and regional authenticity are on display in a premium Brut-style sparkler.
Pommery Cuvee Brut Royal showcases this verismo with a delicate, elegant, refined bubbly with an exuberant effervescence that melds with classic French style. The wine has a freshness and lively zestiness with intriguing aromas of citrus blossom and orchard fruity. These aromas lead to flavors of white peaches, red apples, and berries with blanched almonds and brioche. The Champagne is well-rounded and nicely structured without feeling heavy on the palate. It is bright and fresh and a perfect wine to toast with this weekend. #Cheers
