There is one more reason to celebrate that autumn and cooler temperatures are right around the corner; today is National Red Wine Day. As I noted at the beginning of August, this month has a lot of wine holidays. Maybe because we are all looking for relief during the dog days of summer. And, while you may not think that a hearty red wine is the ideal wine to end the hot month, now is the time to start thinking of what you want to drink for the rest of the year as temperatures cool. That being said, we suggest one of these options. #Cheers

Red Rose is the first wine from Rose Vine Cellars, a collaboration between musician Ja Rule, winemaker Ross Reedy, and Wines That Rock. From 60 year old vines in Sonoma’s Alexander Valley, the Cabernet Sauvignon wine is bold and fleshy. With a broad, rich palate, the wine has layers of blackberry, currant, and cassis, with an earthy dried leather and espresso note keeping the flavors balanced.

Winemaker Anne Collard is a leader in the natural wine movement. Her Rhone blends are made without sulfites, with biodynamic and organic fruit, and with wild yeast that spontaneously begins fermentation. Vignoble Anne Collard Cotes du Rhone is showcases the earthy wild herbs and mineral-rich soils of the Rhone. There is a balance of elegance and lively freshness, making this an easy wine to enjoy any day of the week.

El Coto Rioja is one of the largest producers in Rioja, Spain. The company owns 1800 acres of vines, ensuring control over every element of production from vine to glass. The Rioja Crianza red Tempranillo wine is an approachable, easy-to-drink wine with authentic Spanish charm. It has a medium body, great acidity, light tannin, and savory flavors of herbs, balsamic, and cherry. Enjoy on your next Taco Tuesday or with your favorite tapas spread.

Bread & Butter Russian River Valley Pinot Noir sources fruit from throughout the valley, ensuring final blend will come together with refinement and balance. It is a part of the reserve tier of wines from the California producer. The wine is aged nine to 10 months in partially new French oak, lending subtle spice notes to the wine’s red berry, cherry, cola, and tea. The fruit-forward wine would be delicious with roasted poultry, pork, or salmon.

Taking its name from the 45th North parallel where Paul Jaboulet Aîné’s winery sits just a few kilometers from. Parallèle 45 Côtes Du Rhône has been in production since the 1950s and is a symbol of classic Northern Rhone wines. The blend includes 60% Grenache with 40% Syrah, which comes together with flavors of ripe red cherries and berries, dried underbrush, woody herbs, and lavender. It is a consistently delicious wine.

From one of the most isolated areas of Australia, in the Grampians region of Victoria, Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Vineyard was initially planted in 1870. The soils are filled with granite and red loam, creating mineral-driven, intense wines. It is one of the cooler climates in Australia, creating a finessed expression of the country’s signature Shiraz grape. The Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz is fruity and succulent, with blue and blackberry, toasted caramel, and dried orange zest.
I’ll raise a glass today!!
