Vina Alberdi Rioja Reserva ~ Wine of the Day

From high elevations vineyards in Spain’s Rioja Alta, Vina Alberdi Rioja Reserva shines as a well-made, well-balanced wine from the region. Produced from 100% Tempranillo fruit grown in moisture holding calcerous-clay soils, the medium bodied, 14.5% alchol wine is ideal with anything from chicken and sausage paella to a roasted tenderloin of beef as there is enough acidity in the wine to balance to fruit’s natural richness and tannin.

Two years of American oak aging give the wine a subtle hint of vanilla and spice, which melds with the layers of blue and black fruit, soft herbs, and caramel. The barrel aging is followed by bottle aging, giving the flavors time to fully meld and integrate, ensuring the wine is ready to drink upon release. I am such a fan of the wines of Spain, and this one is a great reason why. It is approachable, expressive, not overly expensive, and easy to enjoy with a range of foods or sipped on its own. #Cheers
