Raising a Glass to Bubbles this Champagne Day

Today is like a mini-Christmas as we toast Champagne Day around the world. It is a day that we celebrate all things bubbly. While there is only one true Champagne, we believe in inclusion and are not biased toward only one region. That being said, we can absolutely agree there is nothing quite like a glass of high-quality Champagne. To help get you in a sparkling mood we have curated a selection of quality bubbles that are ideal for toasting this special day. #Cheers

Since 1760 Champagne Delamonte has been crafting wines from sloping, hillside vineyards within Champagne’s Côte des Blancs, celebrating its historical traditions while continuously crafting luscious Champagne wines with character. Delamonte Rose combines 88% Chardonnay with only 12% Pinot Noir to create a delicate salmon-hued Brut-style sparkler. Fresh and aromatic, the wine opens with notes of fresh raspberries and fresh floral notes, followed by layers of red fruits and citrus cream with a lively, inviting mousse and just the right balance for fruit-forward, concentrated flavor, and bright, fresh acidity.

Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is an elegant, almost ethereal, expression of Chardonnay. There is a purity in its refinement, revealing why the Champagne region’s mineral-rich chalk, marl, and limestone soils are so ideal for growing Chardonnay fruit meant for the production of Champagne. The wine is crafted without the addition of any supplementary sugar; the 100% Chardonnay Champagne offers an authentic expression of the land, showing layers of golden citrus, orchard fruit, and crushed stone minerality that meld with classic notes the traditional method production brings, including brioche, marzipan, and cream. This is the Champagne to drink with oysters or caviar or simply to sip on its own, enjoying its beauty.

The biodynamic winery, Lorimer, offers an ultra-dry, delicious bubbly with its Lorimer Extra Brut Reserve Sket using a blend of 33% Pinot Noir, 25% Zweigelt, 17% Pinot Blanc, 15% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Gris. The Austrian property showcases the non-vintage blend by allowing the natural sweetness of the fruit to shine by producing a traditional method sparkler with very little dosage. Layers of baked apple, hazelnut, marzipan, and juicy fresh lemon lift from the glass with a sense of purity, expressing the cool climate of the region and allowing the essence of the fruit to shine through.

Dutcher Crossing Posterity Reserve Blanc de Blancs highlights Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay from the winery’s estate within Sonoma County. While parts of Dry Creek can be very warm, pockets of the region are able to grow cool climate varieties, like Chardonnay. The traditional method sparkler spent 20 months in the bottle on the lees, giving it lovely richness while melding with orchard fruit and brioche notes. The non-vintage sparkler is perfect for sipping with anything from roast chicken to crab cakes to poached lobster.

I had the great privilege of adopting my sweet Yoda when he was about two years old, and while some would say I rescued him, he clearly rescued me and gave me the most wonderful almost 18 years of life together, passing just a few months ago. I loved every ounce of him and can’t imagine what the past 18 years would have been without him.

Rescue Dog Wines understands the value our precious pups bring to our lives. It also knows the importance of producing high-quality wines from sustainable vineyards that also give back, and so the company donates 50% of its profits to rescue organizations. Rescue Dog Wines Methode Champanoise Rosé is a juicy and fresh sparkler crafted in the classic method of Champagne from a non-traditional blend of Lodi, Californian-grown Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Alicante Bouschet. The non-vintage bubbly opens with layers of red berries, orchard fruit, and melon with a frothy, lively mousse. It is fresh and easy, with balance and easy-to-drink approachability. In other words, Rescue Dog Sparkling Wine is clearly a win-win for your palate and for all the other Yoda dogs out there.
