We’re Exploring: Just back from Greece

Basket vines of Assyrtico in Santorini

Basket vines of Assyrtico in Santorini

I returned yesterday afternoon from almost two weeks of travel throughout the beautiful country and islands of Greece – there to drink their steely, mineral rich white wines, like the crisp, acidic Assyrtico from the island of Santorini and hearty, bold and nicely aged reds, like the aged Xinomavro in the north with New Wines of Greece.

All I can say is wow! Beautiful food, wine and people, especially the incredible day fish, caught from the Aegean Sea that morning and grilled to perfection, the ever-present Greek salads filled with beautiful tomatoes, cucumbers and delicious briny feta, and a few Santorini tomato fritters that were right up my alley.

Sorry for being gone for a few days…but check back soon…much more to come on the delicacies of Grecian cuisine and the fantastic regional wines that pair so well.
