About this time every year I reflect on where I am, where I was, and how life is going in general. And man, is this year a treat to reflect on. My only advice is if you ever have an opportunity to leave the comfort zone and follow your passion…DO IT!!! Two years ago I was in the midst of leaving my comfort zone and a career I had invested every ounce of who I was, at the time, in. I loved it, but it just didn’t drive me anymore…didn’t fulfill me. Instead, the wonderful world of wine did and does till this day.
At the same time, Gary was in the midst of leaving his career of 25 years to follow his passions, from film critic to film maker. Some might have called us crazy; both of us leaving stability and safety for the unknown…but the beauty of who we are together gives us more confidence and gumption than we would have ever had on our own.
Now, two years later, we are stronger and happier than ever. Gary is in the midst of making a major motion picture, filming early next year with an incredible cast, fantastic script and dream director…though we still have to be a little hush hush about the details…it is going to be amazing. And I have traveled from one end of the world to the other, or almost, tasting wine and spirits and experiencing cultures I never thought I would. From South Africa to Spain to Greece to Italy to Napa to Washington and Oregon to Ireland and Scotland to the Dominican Republic and of course, our haven, the big island of Hawaii….I have seen and done more than I ever dreamed, and it is just getting started. I thank my lucky stars every day for the opportunities I had in the past and the wonderful career I built for 15 years, and say a prayer every day for the one I have stepped into now.
I can’t wait to see what this year will bring….Cheers!
