Thank you to everyone who joined us July 30th for our 3rd Annual Wine Dinner benefiting The June Jones Foundation. Thanks to all of your support in joining us and supporting our silent auction, the generosity of our item donors and host wineries, Siduri and Novy Family Wines, along with our fantastic sponsor, Mr. Vic Salvino, we will be donating $11,500 to June’s Foundation, surpassing our goal of $10K.
The first year we started this dinner we were able to donate $5000 to the foundation, a great achievement for a little dinner of about 75 people. Last year we had a few more guests and were able to donate $7000. For the third year in a row we had a sold out crowd, this year filling the space of our friend, Chef Andrew Ormsby’s Southern Comforts Roadhouse Grille, just opened on Ross Ave, raising money for a foundation we are thrilled to support.
While sipping 90+ point Pinot Noir from Siduri paired with hearty stuffed quail, fried chicken and grilled ribs with sweet southern corn, the SMU alumni heavy crowd mingled, laughed and toasted to the start of a great new football season, getting an inside look on what is ahead from Coach Jones. June and his life long friend, my sweetheart, Gary Cogill got to the heart of it as Gary asked him all those questions WE always wanted to know but couldn’t really get away with asking. The take away, this is going to be a great year for SMU football, June is excited about what is ahead and, most importantly, our donation will go a long way to help the kids that benefit from the work of the June Jones Foundation. June noted that 100% of the funds we raised will stay in Dallas helping inner city kids in a new mentoring program he is developing with the help of local churches, clubs and the DISD.
