When we tabulated the proceeds from our 3rd annual fund-raiser for The June Jones Foundation last summer I was thrilled that in 3 years a small dinner with 100 or so people could donate just over $25,000 to our friend, Coach June Jones, and his incredible foundation helping kids across the world.  It was satisfying, especially as this is our biggest event each year, and largest percentage of donations each year go to this charity, followed by smaller amounts donated to non-profits like Charity:Water, The Stewpot and The North Texas Food Bank from other events throughout the year.

Then I set my sights on 2013 and our 4th annual Dallas Uncorked Wine Dinner and Silent Auction for June and his foundation, hoping to surpass our $11,500 donation total from last year, hopefully raising at least $13,000…maybe $15K.  Thanks to wonderful partners like Sevy’s Grill and Biltmore Wine, with fantastic silent auction items donated by Dallas Summer Musicals, The Dallas International Film Festival, Jordan Winery, The Angelika, Studio Movie Grill, Ferrari’s Italian Villa and Domaine Serene Winery and our second year event sponsor Mr. Vic Salvino, our July 31 dinner at Sevy’s Grill raised an outstanding $15,000 for The June Jones Foundation. 

Earlier this week we presented June our donation, which will be used directly in Dallas for a mentorship program called Urban You Turn pairing at risk kids in our community with adult mentors to help ensure Dallas youth have the best opportunities for success possible. We are so proud to be able to help June and this cause and look forward to continuing this great event next year. 

In the mean time, we are getting excited about our upcoming Harvest Dinner on October 27 with Abraham Salum featuring a selection of regional Spanish wines from Aveniu Brands, benefiting The Stewpot.  The Stewpot offers a safe haven for homeless and at-risk individuals of Dallas, providing resources for basic survival needs as well as opportunities to start a new life. I am a member of The Stewpot Alliance and am always so proud to be able to give back during this harvest season as we head into the holidays with this event.
