Wine of the Day: Scott Family Estate Carneros Chardonnay

From the family behind Rutherford Ranch Wine Company, Scott Family Estate celebrates the diversity of their California estates in the southern San Lois Obispo area of Arroyo Seco and northern Carneros, both heavily influenced by cooling ocean and bay breezes, giving an extra layer of freshness to their nicely structured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. From the Napa side of Carneros, with rolling hillsides of vineyards, Scott Family Estate Carneros Chardonnay ($42) reveals an aromatic opening that gives way to a lush, textured palate. Ten months of American and French oak aging, sur lees (or on the yeasts), adds richness and depth, giving creamy vanilla and toasted almond notes to the white peach, green apple, and ripe honeydew filled wine. A great winter white to help warm you from the inside out.
