In the midst of the chaos, there is always beauty. Art helps us see that beauty, moving us, speaking to us, bringing joy, delivering comfort, transporting us to places we love, places we hope to go, places that only exist in dreams.
After weeks of being at home with the stay-in-place orders due to the pandemic, Gary and I have just reopened the doors of Lahaina Galleries on the Big Island, where we are both happy to be back to work. There is a delightful pleasure to be surrounded by such beauty. Each artist, expert in their craft, with a unique voice, telling their story through the canvas, the bronze, the wood, the metal.
Walking through the doors brings an immediate smile, with the paintings and sculptures welcoming us, dancing in the light of a sunshine-filled Hawaiian day.
One that has me smiling today is Ronaldo Macedo’s “Mauied.” This original 12×20 oil on board transports you and your sweetie to a summer picnic on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Macedo is a Brazilian born artist living on Maui, painting the landscapes of the island, highlighting its character with an authentic sense of place.
As we bring you this little moment of beauty through fine art I raise my glass to my Gary. You are the only one I want to be “mauied” to.
If you like this piece, reach out to me or to Gary, we would love to share more about it. For more of Macedo’s work, follow the link to Lahaina Galleries’ new website, here. If you are on the Big Island, pop in and say hello. We would love to see you! #Cheers
