Wine of the Day: Goosecross State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

With a focus on sustainability and deep farming roots, Napa Valley’s Goosecross Cellars prides itself on crafting varietally correct wines with a sense of place. Naming the winery after the geese that surround their Yountville property, Goosecross is led by Christi Coors Ficeli, who celebrates the enduring bond that geese form, knowing she can carry fans of her small-production, refined, polished wines on a lifelong journey.

Goosecross State Lane Cabernet Sauvignon ($80) from their valley floor, estate vineyard, and aged 22 months in 60% new French oak, is lush, rich, and beautifully well-rounded, with texture and concentration. With black fruit, toasted spice, dark chocolate, and a savory earthiness, this is the perfect wine to enjoy with a braised stew or roasted lamb. Though the wine is powerful, there is a restraint that I seek in many Napa Valley Cabs, ensuring optimal enjoyment from start to finish. #cheers
