Produced to honor the mother of Paso Robles Daou Vineyards and Winery founders, Georges & Daniel Daou’s mother, Marie Daou, Daou Winery introduces their Bodyguard Chardonnay ($40). Through the hardest times the family lived through, including war and darkness, Mother Daou was the rock for her family, as they describe, handling each obstacle with grace and strength. The brothers pay tribute to their mother with this new release, an accompaniment to their Bodyguard Red ($40).
From fruit grown in Santa Barbara County, close to the Pacific Ocean, with sunshine-filled days creating a rich, round, textured wine that also has lively freshness. Aromas of warm spice, coconut, and vanilla meld with golden apple and tropical fruits, leading into a palate of ripe mango, orchard fruit, and creamy honey with a note of toasted oak and spice from aging in a mix of French and American oak.
