A brand new wine from the prestigious Brion Winery in Napa Valley has just been released, Brion Cabernet Franc. A tiny production of only 77 cases was made for this inaugural vintage of the wine, produced from the winery’s Sleeping Lady Vineyard in the Yountville District of Napa. Crafted by Napa’s esteemed winemaker, Julien Fayard, the wine has a nice earthy crushed stone note that melds with soft floral violets and herbaceous aromas.
The palate is bold and rich, showing the strength of the aromatic variety, revealing a full body with ripe fruit flavors of blackberry, black cherry, toasted clove, nutmeg, and anise. The wine shows the strength of Cabernet Franc, proving the Bordeaux variety can stand on its own with power and elegance, aside from the blend. A perfect wine to toast with a special holiday crown roast or beef tenderloin that will match the power the wine’s tannins bring to the table.
