5 Juicy and Refreshing Wines for Summer

It is such a joy to find luscious, juicy, thirst-quenching wines that are also tasty and approachable. The five selections featured below are fresh, crisp, bright, and completely delicious. They are the prefect wine to toast as temperatures continue to climb this summer. #Cheers

Cuviason crafts a bright, lively Sauvignon Blanc that is far too easy to drink from their estate in the Los Carneros region at the southern tip of Napa Valley. It is a lively, layered wine that opens with layers of lemon blossom and jasmine, followed by pomelo, lemongrass, and golden grapefruit flavors. The wine ages for six months in stainless steel, giving it a beautiful texture and mouthfeel without adding weight. It is a wine we want to drink all summer.

From Inman Family Wines in Russian River Valley, Inman Pinot Gris is a nice departure from the typical selections we find in Russian River. The wine displays a subtle spiciness of candied ginger that melds with the classic citrus and stone fruit flavors, with notes of white peach, apricot, and lemon balm. It is a beautiful wine to pair with summer salads or roasted fish with lemon butter and orzo.

Kentia Albarino from Rias Baixas is crisp, inviting, and vibrant, with a hint of brininess thanks to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. The sunshine-filled wine is bursting with acidity, opening with fragrant floral and citrus notes that dive into layers and layers of yellow fruits, including lemons, peaches, and apples, with a crushed stone mentality thanks to the granite-filled soils of vineyards throughout the region. A delicious wine with tapas, seafood, and shellfish, like mussels with white wine and garlic or fresh steamed clams.

Enjoying a similar oceanic influence, though, from the Pacific vs. Atlantic, Tangent Albarino is racy with zesty lemon, mandarin, and honeysuckle aromas that lead into layers of wild orange, ripe citrus, and tropical fruit, with that note of saline and minerality that is completely attractive. Serve this beauty very cold, and pair it with grilled salmon or shrimp, or roasted vegetable sandwiches with goat cheese.

Chardonnay can be a bit all over the board, from clean and crisp to rich and unctuous. Dry Creek Vineyard DCV Block Chardonnay from Russian River Valley in Sonoma is a lovely blend of both, leaning to the refreshing side. The grapes ripen slowly from the cooler side of the region, allowing the wine to maintain its freshness, with layers of ripe stone fruit and orchard fruit. With a slightly spicey, well-rounded palate of candied mango, Asian pear, and fresh ginger, the easy-drinking wine is balanced, clean, and delicious.
