If you are looking for two perfect wines for toasting with friends or family this holiday season, look no further than Baileyana Chardonnay and sister winery True Myth’s Pinot Noir. Both wines are grown in the cool climate region of SLO Coast. SLO Coast is a relatively newly created AVA producing distinct wines that have a bright freshness and delicious fruit-filled flavor thanks to the area’s lengthy growing season.
Within the SLO Coast is Edna Valley, an area hailed for producing premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Baileyana Edna Valley Chardonnay is juicy, rich, and well-rounded. The fruit goes through 100% barrel fermentation in partially new French oak, lending a spicy, creamy texture to the juicy fruit-filled wine. Aromas of vanilla cream, lemon blossom, and honeysuckle lead to layers of tropical fruit and ripe melon flavors. The luscious fruit flavors meld with warm spice notes of nutmeg and allspice with a touch of crushed stone minerality, enhanced by the region’s clay loam, volcanic, and marine sedimentary soils. This is the wine we want to drink with roast chicken or lemon shrimp pasta.
True Myth winery honors the patience of Mother Nature, while honoring her beauty, and the loveliness that surrounds us, which is evident when enjoying the magnificence and grace found within the vineyards of SLO Coast. True Myth’s new Pinot Noir selection from the San Luis Obispo Coast AVA displays a similar bright freshness and balance thanks to the cooling breezes off the Pacific Ocean that blow through SLO Coast vineyards throughout the growing season. These breezes keep grapes healthy and cool, while allowing the fruit to gently ripen. The resulting wine displays layers of red berries, ripe cherry, woody herbs, and a subtle hint of toasted spice enhanced by nine months of French oak aging.
