Frank Family Chardonnay ~ Wine of the Day to Toast the Emmy Awards

Tonight, we will honor the best of the best on evening television with the 95th annual Emmy Awards (and let’s hope they are better than the Golden Globes). To celebrate, we will be raising a glass of Frank Family Chardonnay from the Carneros region of Napa Valley/Sonoma Valley.

The wine has a special tie to the television industry, as Gary and I do. I worked in television as an executive with the Nielsen Company for a decade, as well as working at various television stations throughout Dallas for years.  Gary spent almost 25 years on the air at WFAA-TV, winning several Emmys for his work as a critic of film and the arts.

Frank Family’s founders, Rich Frank and his wife, Leslie Frank, also spent quite a bit of time in the industry before wine became their focus and passion. A former executive at Disney and Paramount Pictures, Rich Frank served as President of the Television Academy, and Emmy-award-winning journalist Leslie Frank was anchor and reporter for KABC in Los Angeles.

Bringing all of this together means you have four people who love both the television industry and a good glass of wine. Frank Family’s Carneros Chardonnay blends fruit from the winery’s Lewis Estate Vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros with grapes from Sangiacomo and Beckstoffer Vineyards in the region. After harvest, the Chardonnay undergoes a long, cool fermentation, locking in freshness and flavor, followed by partial malolactic fermentation, rounding out the harsh edges, creating a wine with a creamy mouthfeel, balanced acidity, and lengthy finish. The wine layers juicy apple, lemon curd, and butterscotch with crushed stone and rich butterscotch. It is the perfect winter white wine to enjoy for tonight’s Emmy Ceremony. #Cheers
