Acumen “Peak” Cabernet Franc ~ Wine of the Day

Toast the weekend with a stunning red from high atop Atlas Peak in Napa Valley. Acumen Winery’s inaugural vintage of “Peak” Cabernet Franc showcases organically grown estate fruit grown at elevations ranging from 1,300 to 1,600 feet above sea level. The total estate plantings include 116 acres of vines, of which Cabernet Sauvignon is dominant. However, in this part of Napa Valley, where cooler temperatures lock in natural freshness, Right Bank Bordeaux varieties also thrive, like Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

The 2021 Peak Cabernet Franc includes 76% of the variety, blended with 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, giving structure and depth, and 10% Merlot, and plush softness and well-rounded character to the floral, fruit, and spice notes of the Cabernet Franc. The wine opens with ripe layers of plum and crushed berries with dusty leather, tobacco, wildflowers, toasted spice, and black tea. The wine has enough weight to hold its own with a hearty grilled ribeye or braised lamb shoulder while also shining with herb and garlic roasted chicken or mushroom risotto.
