From high atop Napa Valley’s Howell Mountain, La Jota Vineyard reveals the region’s mineral-rich red volcanic soils in its expressive Cabernet Franc. Elevations here reach from 1400 feet to upwards of 2500 feet above sea level. High elevations keep fruit cool throughout the evenings and mornings, locking in freshness before sunshine-filled days help ripen the fruit, concentrating the juicy, fruit-forward flavors.
With silky tannins and a well-balanced, structured profile, the wine opens with aromas of red and black berries, floral notes of violets, wild herbs, and dusty tobacco, leading to a palate of ripe berries, licorice, and cassis. While the wine is rich and statement-worthy, its character has a delicate essence thanks to the care winemaker Christopher Carpenter shows the historic vineyard’s fruit. #Cheers
