Auteur Wines crafts cool climate wines from some of the finest vineyards in Northern California, sourcing fruit from places like the historic Bacigalupi Vineyards has been growing premium Chardonnay in Russian River Valley for generations, Chardonnay from the Durrell Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, and Pinot Noir from the Gap’s Crown Vineyard in rugged Anderson Valley.
The winery is driven by the vine, allowing the fruit and the terroir from which it is grown to shine, defining its unique characteristics. The duo behind the brand is Winemaker Kenneth Juhasz and his wife, CEO, Laura Juhasz. While Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines are a part of the portfolio, the winery’s passion lies in the finicky, delicate, luscious, and lovely Pinot Noir fruit. Though Pinot Noir is one of the most difficult grapes to grow, the wines that come from the fruit have stolen the hearts of many, including Kenneth Juhasz who fell in love with the variety in Burgundy, and since working and consulting in Willamette Valley, Napa, and Sonoma.
Auteur Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir hails from sustainably farmed vineyards close to the Pacific Ocean, where the delicate fruit enjoys a long, cool growing season. Foggy mornings and evenings ensure fruit maintains freshness, while warm sunny days throughout the summer bring ripeness to the fruit. The wine opens with layers of blue and blackberry fruit, earthy notes of woody herb, a subtle hint of toasted spice, and forest floor. The wine undergoes wild yeast fermentation before aging in partially new French oak for 11 months, lending just a hint of spice to the well-rounded wine. #Cheers
