movie night

IMG_6820Thanks to all who joined us for our very special Dallas Uncorked night at the movies with Gary Cogill at Veritas Wine Room.

For as many years as Gary and I have been together, and as many Dallas Uncorked events he has helped me with, including sitting on our board, we had never done a night all about his passion, film.

That changed Sunday evening with a very special tasting event.

DALLAS UNCORKED GOES TO THE MOVIES WITH
GARY COGILL & VERITAS WINE ROOM

WINE LIST

Anna de Codornui Brut Rose Cava ~ Made in the traditional method with 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, this traditional method produced Spanish sparkler is filled with red berries and spices with a zesty, crisp open, followed by a rich, lush palate with raspberry, red cherry and bitter orange flavors.

Followed by a choice of any two of the following ~

WHITE

2013 Abbazia di Novacella Pinot Grigio ~ From the Augustinian Canons Regular monastery of Neustift, located in the northern-most winegrowing region of Italy, on the southern side of the Alps in Alto Adige. With mineral-rich soils, high elevation and cool climate, the wines produced here are intensely aromatic with fruit filled flavors and mouth-watering acidity. Novacella Pinto Grigio leaps from the glass with traditional fruit filled flavors of citrus and tropical fruit, but the bright acidity inherent in the region keeps the wine fresh and lively, ideal for warm days.

2013 De-fin-i-tive Napa Valley Chardonnay ~ The second label of the highly respected Ancien Winery in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, benefiting from great winemaking talent with a less expensive price tag. Balanced and fresh with golden apple, juicy citrus and tropical fruit.

2013 Giesen New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc ~ Fresh and vibrant, with layers of fresh lime, lemongrass and soft herbs. Balanced and bright, with gooseberry, citrus and steely minerality for a bright, high acidity wine for a mouth-watering finish.

RED

2011 Altos Las Hormigas Mendoza Malbec ~ Malbec is such a friendly variety, filled with black cherry, currant and leather notes, without being overwhelmingly tannic, for an interesting yet pleasing flavor profile. This one from Las Hormigas is lush and juicy, with plum, currant, blackberry and cherry notes for a fresh, balanced and expressive wine.

2013 De-fin-i-tve Russian River Valley Pinot Noir ~ Russian River is one of the premier regions for growing quality Pinot Noir filled with ripe cherry, cola, forest floor and red berry flavors. This one, also from the makers of Ancien, highlights the benefits of growing cool climate Pinot Noir with fresh acidity wrapping around juicy, ripe fruit for a balanced, intriguing wine.

2013 Carmenet California Cabernet Sauvignon ~ This California Cab opens with a complex bouquet of berries with hints of chocolate, leading to spice and vanilla notes with a smooth, lingering finish. Balanced, refined and enjoyable, a great wine for sipping on its own or enjoying over a meal.
