Aloha friends. Our hearts and prayers are with our dear friends in Napa and Sonoma Counties, as well as the surrounding areas that have been devesateted by the wildfires over the past week.

Living on an island now, where the glorious trade winds blow day and night, so strong that I am almost knocked off my feet sometimes, it is easy to understand how so much devestation occured so rapidly, and the shear force of Mother Nature.

We would be remiss not to include the relief organizations that have come together to help the communities that lost everything in the fires in our annual Holiday Harvest Celebration coming up on December 10 at Salum with Domaine Carneros. The fire line stopped almost at the door step of Domaine Carneros, so the beautiful winery and vineyards were spared, but so many more were effected.

We do have a list of recepients now for this dinner, and I am well aware that there are many, but as we watch what has happened in the past few months regarding natural disasters locally and abroad, we feel we are obligated to give back. Our two main recipients to benefit for this dinner are Les Dames d’Escoffier International – Dallas Chapter which helps educate women in the fields of fine beverage, food and hospitality in Dallas through grants and scholarships, and The Stewpot of Dallas, helping feed the homeless of Dallas and a long time recipient of this event. We will also be donating to the relief efforts organized to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, the earthquakes that rocked Mexico, and the relief funds to assist those that lost everything in the California fires.

Our annual dinner will be held at Salum at 7pm on December 10 with the sparkling and still wines of Domaine Carneros, will special guest Domaine Carneros Winemaker, Eileen Crane. Eileen has been winemaker for Domaine Carneros since the winery was created by the Champagne House, Taittinger.
