Wine of the Day: Shafer Vineyards Relentless Syrah

20191105_153104160274763666651422.jpgShafer Vineyards showcases a tiny hillside lot south of Stags Leap in Napa’s Vaca Mountains to produce gamey, slightly smoky, peppery Syrah for their premium Shafer Relentless Syrah ($95.) Bold, concentrated, and dense, proving that in the middle of Cab country you can also produce luscious, alluring wine from Rhone varieties like Syrah. Definitely a meat and potatoes type wine, with a big alcohol level (15.8%), making it ideal as temperatures cool and you need a wine that will warm you from the inside out.
