Wine of the Day: April Fool’s Day

Have we all been living in a joke, as this April 1st rolls around it certainly feels like it? However, we are actually living in reality. As the new month begins, and mortgage payments or rent are due, we look to toast with something affordable, yet very tasty. And, if ever there was time to toast with a bubble it is now. When thinking of affordable sparkling wine, Spain’s traditional method produced Cava is one of the best bang for your buck options you can find. Juve & Camps Brut Rose Cava ($20) is produced from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the heart of Spain’s Penedes region, and aged for at least a year on the yeasts prior to disgorgement. The aging gives the strawberry and red cherry-filled palate a rich layer of creaminess, with toasted hazelnut and brioche notes. The wine is quite lively, vibrant, and clean, ideal for pairing with grilled salmon or fresh Ahi, or simply enjoying on its own.
