Wine of the Day: Raimat Pirinenca Tempranillo

Though I showcased many beautiful wines of Rioja in my last post, Rioja isn’t the only place the black fruit-filled wine thrives. Ribera del Duero has adopted their version of Tempranillo, Tinta del Pais, to be their signature variety, Toro’s Tinta de Toro is the local version of the variety, and in pockets, allover the country, Tempranillo shines from La Mancha to Aragon to Catalunya. From within the Catalunya region is the home to Raimat, a 100+-year-old winery that is dedicated to sustainable farming and practices, with all 9000+ acres of their vineyards certified sustainable and moving towards organic. Raimat Pirinenca Tempranillo ($20), is bold and concentrated, with a full-body, while maintaining an approachable, easy style. Juicy and fresh, revealing ripe red berry, cherry, subtle herbal notes of mint, wild sage, and thyme, toasted vanilla, roasted coffee, and spice. A delicious wine for Manchego cheese and Jamon Iberico pairings, or with a grilled ribeye. #Cheers
