Cakebread Cellars Two Creeks Pinot Noir

Today’s #wineoftheday raises a glass to Cakebread Cellars luscious, layered Two Creeks Pinot Noir ($45) from Anderson Valley. Nestled not far from the Pacific Ocean, on the banks of the Anderson River, Cakebread’s Annahala and Apple Barn estate vineyards thrive in what is has become Northern California’s gem of a region for crafting nuanced Pinot Noir with character, Anderson Valley.

The Apple Barn vineyard sits inland a touch more than Annahala, ensuring full ripeness and powerful concentration thanks to lengthy sunshine-filled days. Annahala sits closer to the coast, with fog-filled evenings through the morning, delivering fruit with delicate elegance with distinct freshness. The blend of the two vineyards together creates one harmonious wine filled with ripe fruit flavors, refined tannin, and ample acidity.

The wine opens with floral notes of wild roses and violets melding with cherry blossom and wild strawberry, leading to flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry and strawberry, with a hint of crushed stone and woody herb and just a touch of spice helping round out the silky finish. A tasty wine to enjoy with anything from cassoulet to coq au vin, butternut squash soup, or a swiss chard salad. #Cheers
