Crafted in honor of the 125th anniversary of Mendoza, Argentina’s Bodega Trapiche, Trapiche Gran Medalla Malbec displays everything we love about the country’s signature grape. Produced from Uco Valley-grown fruit, the wine is bold, rustic, and expressive, balancing the line between earthy, woody herb and dusty leather notes and juicy Morello cherry, black plum, and violets. It is a wine that can easily age 10-15 years but is also supple and silky, ready to enjoy now with a bit of time decanting to allow the wine to breathe. Tannins are present but not overbearing, giving a nice lift to the fruit. Aged 18 months in new French oak, plus an additional six months in bottle, allowing the wine to settle before release. The oak lends a spicy note of dried cinnamon and crushed nutmeg, with a hint of wild lavender on the finish. Enjoy with a hearty grilled ribeye with red wine mushrooms. #cheers
