3 White Wines to Celebrate Spring

The days are getting longer, the temperatures are rising, and wildflowers are blooming in the fields. Welcome to spring. As we settle into one of the best times of the year, toast with a refreshing white wine that is sure to lift the palate, just as the warmer, sunshine-filled days are lifting our moods. Each of these three selections should be on your table this weekend. #Cheers

J. Lohr is one of Paso Robles’s historic wineries, with roots dating back to 1974. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the family-owned property is changing a few things, like its label for the J. Lohr Riverstone Arroyo Seco Monterey Chardonnay. The new label design sings of spring, showcasing a wreath of flowers along the outside border. Inside the bottle, the wine maintains its stance as one of the best value Chardonnay options on the market, balancing richness from barrel fermenting and aging with the freshness of cool-climate-grown fruit.  It is a delicious wine to enjoy with a Sunday roast chicken.

Russian River’s Bricoleur Vineyards continues to craft impressive cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and hearty Zinfandel wine. But the skill doesn’t stop there, as is evident in the winery’s luscious Kick Ranch Vineyard Viognier. The white Rhone variety can come across as flabby or flat if not made with knowledge and care. Bricoleur’s selection is bright, fresh, and juicy, layering white peach, apricot, and floral honeysuckle. The wine is stainless steel fermented, ensuring it maintains freshness and the natural flavor of the fruit while still delivering the weight and texture expected from the variety. It is a beautiful wine to sip on the lanai while watching the sunset.

From high-elevation vineyards in Napa’s Atlas Peak AVA, Acumen Winery showcases an elegant balance of fruit with crushed stone minerality from the mountain’s volcanic soils in its Mountainside Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are managed using organic and sustainable methods, allowing the authentic character of the fruit to shine. The refreshing white wine opens with freshly cut apples, golden citrus, ripe melon, and soft herbs with a lovely mineral note that lingers on the palate throughout.
