We learned years ago that The Prisoner Wine Company loves a blend filled with juicy, fruit-forward flavors to create a wine that is both edgy and elevated, as well as completely unexpected and quite untraditional, especially when you consider wine coming from Napa Valley. Just released this season The Prisoner Wine Co. has added a new blend to their repertoire, Chardonnay. The unconventional winery has had a Chardonnay in their portfolio for a while, The Snitch, but this wine truly captures the winery’s essence and style, showcasing its love of the blend.
Produced predominantly from Carneros grown Chardonnay fruit, with floral Geuwrtztraminer and Roussanne, The Prisoner Wine Company Chardonnay ($40) opens with aromas of wild rose, apple pie, fresh cream, and vanilla, followed by layers of tropical fruit (pineapple and mango), ripe peaches, pear, and spiced apple pie, with hints of toasted oak from 10 months of partially new French oak barrels. The textured wine has a nice richness to it with balance, making it a lovely accompaniment to roasted chicken or pork, creamy pasta, or spicy Pad Thai. #Cheers
